'They called for violence, ethnic cleansing... someone must take responsibility'

Vylan also chanted “From the river to the sea, Palestine must be, will be, inshallah, it will be free.”

Police last night said they had launched a criminal investigation into the incident.

Ms Haskel insisted Mr Davie must take ultimate responsibility.

She said: “This is literally someone calling for violence, for ethnic cleansing, for the destruction and the annihilation of the only Jewish state in the world.

“So if there’s no one that will take responsibility, if no one will be fired over such an outrageous thing, then I think that Tim Davie should take responsibility because there has to be accountability for that.”

Asked to clarify whether she was calling for the resignation of the director-general, who has been in post since 2020, she added:

THE US has banned Bob Vylan from touring later this year because of “their hateful tirade at Glastonbury”.

US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau announced the decision to revoke their visas after one half of the duo, Bobby Vylan, sang the IDF chants at the festival. Bob Vylan will be unable to fulfil dates in Chicago, New York and Philadelphia in the autumn.

The punk-rappers are due to perform at the Radar Festival in Manchester on Saturday.

“If there’s no one responsible for that, and if no one’s going to be fired over such an outrageous thing, Tim Davie should take responsibility and resign.” Ms Haskel also called for an investigation into the BBC’s coverage of the Middle East, claiming it was “biased” and that “mistakes” have been made.
