£78MILLION PAID OUT TO REPAIR SCANDAL-HIT HOSPITAL

- By Douglas Dickie

SNP's 'vanity projects'

TAXPAYERS have paid out more than £78million investigating and repairing the scandal-hit Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) in Glasgow.

The so-called super-hospital opened a decade ago and cost £842million to build.

But it has been beset by issues with dozens of patients developing rare bugs while being treated at the site.

It emerged yesterday that the Scottish Government, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) and NHS National Services Scotland have spent at least £78m on repairs, safety measures and a public inquiry into construction of the QEUH and adjoining Royal Hospital for Children (RHC), since July 2015.

It also cost £4m to remove Grenfell-style cladding while the ongoing public inquiry has cost £32m so far.
