Sevelj's red rescinded after appeal success

DUNDEE UNITED defender Vicko Sevelj is free to face Aberdeen in Tuesday’s league fixture after his sending-off for handball against Hibernian was rescinded.

The Croat was shown a straight red card in the closing stages of last Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Easter Road after a VAR review ruled he had stopped a goalscoring opportunity.

However, an independent panel looked at the incident and quashed the punishment, meaning 24-year-old Sevelj will no longer serve a suspension.

A club statement read: “Dundee United thanks the panel for taking the time to listen to the reasoning put forward.”
