Scotland fell to a heavy 61-run defeat in their opening World Cup warm-up match against Afghanistan in Bengaluru, India.The Saltires, who hadn't played a competitive game for five months, showed flashes of their quality but ultimately came a poor second to their well-honed opponents.

Needing an unlikely 185 for victory, the Scots made a bright start with George Munsey and Michael Jones staving off a dangerous Afghan new-ball attack.

They had put on 24 before Munsey - having reverse-swept mystery spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman for a maximum - picked out a fielder to depart for 13.
