ROBIN VAN PERSIE has branded Feyenoord’s Europa League showdown this evening with Celtic as the Wim Jansen derby.

The De Kuip boss paid an emotional tribute to the Dutch legend - who is a hero to both clubs.

Jansen won the European Cup with Feyenoord as a player - beating Celtic in the 1970 final in the San Siro - and went on to serve as a coach and boss when van Persie was coming through the youth ranks.

The Dutch master is also hailed a legend in Glasgow as the man who halted Rangers’ bid for 10 in a row and the current gaffer admitted tonight's clash will be a fitting tribute to his old mentor who passed away in 2022.

Jansen left behind a bulging notebook full of coaching tips and tactics from his years in the game and van Persie still uses the tome to guide him.
