Child and hostage on brink of death

PRESSURE is growing on Hamas and Israel to end the suffering of so many innocents trapped in Gaza after new pictures of a starving child emerged from the besieged enclave.

Global anger continues to mount with doctors claiming nine-year-old Maryam Duvvas is unable to walk because she is so severely malnourished after her weight more than halved.

A vicious war of words has erupted between Palestine and Israel over who is to blame for the deepening humanitarian crisis.

The terrorists who control the enclave of 2.1 million people blame Israel for impeding aid flow. Israel insists it abides by international law and a distorted picture has been given to the world because information is vetted and controlled by the group.

Caught in the middle are countless helpless children such as Maryam, whose weight has plummeted from 4st to 1st 8lbs.

Medics claim hospital tests revealed no underlying medical conditions with doctors saying her condition is the result of hunger and malnutrition.

She is receiving treatment at The Patient's Friends Benevolent Society Hospital in Gaza City but her desperate family begged for more help. Their message has been amplified on Instagram with a direct plea that read: “Her body is wasting away and she is in desperate need of immediate medical evacuation and nutritional support to survive.”

The image was released as the world recoiled in horror at the state of skeletal Israeli hostage Evyatar David who, in a video from a subterranean prison, could be seen “digging his own grave”.

Evyatar, 24, is one of 49 hostages still being held captive in Gaza. This includes 27 who are believed to be dead.
