Force make humiliating climbdown over gender self-identification in its workplace facilities

POLICE Scotland has performed a humiliating U-turn after confirming new guidance that bans biologically male staff from using female toilets.

The service has adhered to the Supreme Court ruling and interim Equality and Human Rights Commission guidance, meaning access to single-sex workplace toilets, changing rooms and shower facilities is now restricted to those born that sex. It brings an end to gender self-identification within the public body with police and staff working for the country's force now following the law Police Scotland is the second major public body or organisation to adopt the EHRC guidance, with the Scottish Parliament doing so in May.

That decision led to protests from angry trans campaigners.

Police Scotland had allowed staff to use whichever facilities they felt comfortable with, meaning they could self-identify as another gender.
