PM's migrant return hub plan 'doomed to failure'

SIR Keir Starmer's plan to crack down on illegal immigrants seems "doomed to fail" amid reports Britain will ask Kosovo to take in small boat migrants.

The Balkan country is one of nine potential nations Channel migrants could be sent to after they have run out of options to appeal in the UK. Ministers are also keen to approach Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, North Macedonia and several countries outside Europe.

Vjosa Osmani, Kosovo's president, has said she would be "open" to talks over a potential deal.

The Government had hoped Albania would agree to host a hub, but its PM Edi Rama ruled out the move during Sir Keir's visit earlier this month.
