SCOTT ALLAN has seen quiet achiever David Gray take Hibs from a Kelty calamity to the brink of a European return.

And the former Easter Road midfielder is backing the rookie manager to keep the momentum going as the club prepares for a continental push.

The stunning turnaround in Leith this season on Gray's watch earned him a place on the PFA Scotland Manager of the Year shortlist.

Falkirk's John McGlynn may have taken the award, but the 36-year-old club legend nicknamed 'Sir David' by the Easter Road fans - has his sights set on a far bigger prize.

With Hibs three points clear in third and just three Premiership games remaining, Gray's side are on the brink of a remarkable achievement.

Last July, Allan was on the pitch for League One outfit Kelty Hearts as they defeated his old club Hibs 1-0 in the Premier Sports Cup group stage.

It didn't get much better after that, with the capital men sinking to the bottom of the Premiership and Gray under serious pressure in his first full-time managerial post.

But the revival, when it eventually came, was incredible.
