Oil & gas crisis sparks Port of Aberdeen job cuts

SCOTLAND faces a new blow as jobs at the Port of Aberdeen are cut because of a sharp fall in North Sea activity.

‘The company is the oldest in the UK, having been founded in 1136. It is the operator of Scotland's busiest commercial port.

Now, it is the latest North Sea firm to announce that it is cutting staff with both UK and Scottish governments being blamed for failing to support the industry.

Labour have banned new drilling, while the windfall tax is having a big impact on profitability of businesses who rely on the sector. The SNP has a “presumption” against new developments, with the party's opaque stance to be put to the test when MSPs are asked to vote on the Rosebank field at Holyrood today.
