Maxwell: Americans can be a positive for game

IAN MAXWELL has revealed the SFA gave the Rangers takeover the green light because he is convinced their American investors will be a positive force in Scottish football.

Hampden chiefs have the powers to step in if potential owners look iffy with tightened up fit and proper person rules while there have also been questions raised across the globe amid the rise of multi-club ownership.
Gers have been backed by the 49ers Enterprises - who also have control at English Premier League Leeds United - while Hearts and Hibs have received cash boosts from Tony Bloom and Bill Foley, who are involved with EPL clubs Brighton and Bournemouth respectively.
But Maxwell insists it was an easy decision to rubber stamp the developments as the newcomers to Scottish football possess solid track records.
