Man charged over scientist street death

A WOMAN who died after being found seriously injured on a street in Dundee has been named as Dr Fortune Gomo.

Emergency services were called to South Road in the city at around 4.25pm on Saturday.

The 39-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. A postmortem has taken place and her death is now being treated as murder.

A 20-year-old man has been charged in connection with her death. He is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court today.

Dr Gomo was an environmental and water resources scientist and PhD graduate of the University of Dundee. Originally from Zimbabwe, she had recently started a job with Scottish Water.
