FAMILIES headed for the water yesterday and Scotland's sunshine spring continued.

The country looks set to officially enter “heatwave” territory despite temperatures cooling off slightly today.

Forecasters say we should see 23C in most parts of the country tomorrow and Friday.

Yesterday, the Ayrshire community of Auchincruive topped 25C (77F) for the second day in a row.

That means if the same temperature is reached today the country will have officially recorded the first heatwave of 2025.

However, Auchincruive was not the hottest spot yesterday, as Tyndrum in Perthshire notched a sweltering 25.5C (78F).

Parks and city centre benches were packed by office workers, keen to enjoy the endless rays which have beamed down since the start of the month.

Those lucky enough to be working from home staked out pavement cafes and restaurants from Aberdeen to Ayr.
