Life for monster who killed baby in neonatal ward

A FATHER who murdered his premature baby in a special care unit has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 20 years.

Daniel Gunter, 27, inflicted catastrophic injuries on 14-day-old Brendon Staddon that were likened by medical experts to a fall from a multi-storey building, a court heard.

Brendon was found fatally injured in his cot at Yeovil District Hospital in Somerset after mum Sophie Staddon, 21, told nurses he was cold at about 4am on March 5 last year.

The baby did not respond to treatment and was pronounced dead at 4.59am.
