THE SNP Government has been slated after spending £13million on banning more than 650,000 vehicles from city centres across the country. Four cities have low emission zones, where petrol and diesel cars of a certain age are banned from entering, with drivers picking up fines if they do so.

Restrictions

It forms part of SNP measures to cut carbon emissions and get to net zero by 2045. Glasgow was the first city to bring in the restrictions, and was followed by Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen last year, with the out-of-bounds areas signposted by the councils.

According to Transport Scotland and the local authorities, all the money raised through the fines will go to projects to further improve air quality and the environment.
