Law change could split land and property

THE SNP is to consider removing a cornerstone of Scots Law going back 900 years, putting land and property - including the likes of Balmoral - at risk of being broken up and sold off.

Under the proposals, Balmoral may not have been passed in its entirety to King Charles.

Unusually, Scots Law recognises two types of property - immoveable and moveable. Immoveable property, also known as heritable property, includes land and buildings, while moveable property is everything else, including cash in the bank, shares, and jewellery.
