Loan Ger eyes glory over long term

I'M HAUL FIRED UP TO SHINE AT BEST

NEW Rangers recruit Andreas Skov Olsen is adamant he’s arrived at Ibrox for the long haul.

However, Gers’ statement signing also admits there will be no shortcut to success this season.

The Denmark international was treated to a hero’s reception on Friday as he was unveiled at Ibrox following the completion of his six-month switch from Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg.

The temporary transfer could yet be made full-time for a fee of around £8million after an option to buy was added into the loan package.

But, for that to happen, Skov Olsen will have to rediscover the dazzling form shown with former clubs Nordsjaelland and Club Brugge.

The 26-year-old first appeared on Gers' radar shortly after a breakout campaign in which he blasted a remarkable 26 goals in 44 appearances for his boyhood club.

That Nordsjaelland glut soon won him a move to Bologna but, while things didn't work out in Italy, Gers continued to keep close tabs on the talented winger.

Ex-boss Gio van Bronckhorst even tried to lure him to Scotland in 2022 but watched with envy as Skov Olsen instead opted for Belgium, where he went on to rip it up by scoring 49 over three years.

After winning two league titles and a Belgian Super Cup, he was on the move again - this time to Germany.
