Scotland to hit 26C as children return to the classroom

SUMMER is returning to Scotland just as schoolchildren return to the classroom.

Temperatures are expected to hit 25C (77F) today and 26C (79F) tomorrow when the holidays come to an end for thousands of youngsters.

An official heatwave is predicted in England over the coming days where a health warning has been issued with the mercury predicted to hit 34C (93F) or more.

However, that level of heat is unlikely to be experienced north of the border.

This fine spell of sunny weather heralds a ten-day period when temperatures remain above average and little in the way of rain is likely to fall.
