King: An emotionally-detached Gers board can only be positive

DAVE KING believes the lack of any pre-existing emotional attachment to Rangers from their impending new owners can only be a positive.

The former Ibrox chairman is the club’s single largest shareholder with a 13% stake.

Having been involved in negotiations with American businessman Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers Enterprises since late 2024, King expects their bid to take control of Rangers to be finalised next month.

And the South Africa-based businessman is enthused by the prospect of the Light Blues being run by people with no previous connection to the club, unlike the current board.

King said: “I’ve been fortunate enough to be involved in discussions with them directly.

"I asked them the question as well, when Paul Murray introduced them to me, 'Why Rangers? I get your interest in the 49ers, with expanding franchises.
