Fury at traveller site next door to nuclear unit

AN illegal travellers’ site being built next to Britain's largest nuclear weapons facility has infuriated locals living in a neighbouring residential park.

Hundreds have signed a petition calling for an immediate stop to work on 13 static home plots on land opposite the Atomic Weapons Establishment’s Aldermaston campus in Berkshire.

The zone is the largest of three locations where Britain makes its nuclear warheads.

The landowner put in a planning application for 13 plots on November 3, West Berkshire Council has confirmed.
