RACEGOERS struggle to keep their ponchos under control yesterday as wind and rain lash Doncaster Cup Day at the Betfred St Leger Festival.

The scenes at the South Yorkshire racecourse offer a taste of the conditions set to sweep across many areas this weekend.

Gusts up to 55mph are expected inland, reaching up to 70mph in more exposed areas, forecasters say.
