Ex-boiler fitter bids to engineer Plate win
GOLDEN RULES will aim to avenge his 2023 near miss in the JenningsBet Northumberland Plate at Newcastle on Saturday for his little-known Welsh stable.
His trainer Thomas Faulkner, below, used to fit boilers, but he is hoping to engineer a fairytale victory for his Monmouthshire yard in one of the year’s hottest handicaps.
Two years ago, when mother Deborah held the licence, the eight-year-old became a plunge horse after owner Gareth Cheshire went on TV to tell everyone his runner would win the £150,000 race.
