China hikes tariffs on US to 125% in Trump trade war

CHINA yesterday hiked its tariffs on US products to 125% in the latest salvo of the trade war with Donald Trump.

The dramatic escalation came after Chinese President Xi Jinping warned there are “no winners in a tariff war”.

His commerce ministry announced it was raising the 84% tariffs on all US imports to 125%, saying China was ready to “fight to the end”.

The statement suggested it may be Beijing’s last move in tit-for-tat tariff rises as “at the current tariff level, there is no market acceptance for US goods exported to China”.
