Champion had world at his feet

THE world of football and beyond has been in mourning for the loss of Diogo Jota. A natural goalscorer who was pivotal to Liverpool's spectacular recent success, he was the little player with a big dream.

At 5ft 9in, Diogo Jota scored 147 times in almost 400 appearances for various teams, including Portugal.

An exciting, versatile player, he won the Premier League title, the FA Cup and the League Cup with Liverpool, with whom he played from 2020 until his death.

A two-time winner of the Nations League with Portugal, he also claimed a Championship title with Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2018, having arrived in England the previous year.
