'Boycott fairs and goods if they don't say Christmas'

BARGAIN Hunt star David Harper has hit out at attempts to “remove” the use of the word “Christmas”.

- BY GILES SHELDRICK

The antiques expert urged hard-up families to boycott anywhere replacing it with phrases such as “festive season” or “winter festival” and to instead support businesses that carry on using Christmas in messaging.

He said The Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle, Co Durham, did not use the C-word when publicising a three-day “seasonal wonderland” market starting on December 12.

SIGNALLING

David, 58, said: “The only thing these companies love more than virtue signalling is money. So it’s a good idea to avoid spending our hard-earned and much lusted-after cash with any organisation that intentionally removes the word Christmas from their events, or marketing.”

The museum promises a “lively programme of artist-led workshops, carolling and festive activities”.
