Himachal bears the brunt as cloudbursts, flood create havoc

Widespread monsoon havoc has left parts of Himachal Pradesh and Odisha battered, with flash floods and cloudbursts causing major destruction and loss of life.

Himachal witnessed 11 cloudburst incidents, four flash floods and a major landslide, most of them in Mandi district, which claimed five lives and left 16 people missing, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

The district recorded a massive 253.8 mm of rainfall since Monday evening. The deceased was reported from Karsog, while around seven people from two families are missing in Syanj.
