Fresh bid to convert ex-club into storage facility

THE fight to save a landmark former social club which had been saved from being permanently turned into a storage facility looks set for round two.

The LDRS reported recently how Halton Council planners had thrown out an application to transform the former Oddies social club on Hale Road in Halebank into a storage and distribution site, after concerns were raised over its loss as a community venue by the local parish council.

But now a fresh application has been submitted which could once again permanently spell the end for a former club which supporters said had been at the hart of the local community for 'generations'.
