Duo invited to watch special VE Day concert

TWO organising members of Rawtenstall Remembrance Parade were invited to represent Rossendale at the BBC 'VE Day 80th Concert: A Celebration to Remember.

The event at Horse Guards Parade in London last Thursday saw thousands of people gather for a spectacular concert, which was broadcast live, marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day.

Dawn Taylor, Secretary of Rawtenstall Remembrance Parade, and Brian Pickup, Parade Commander, say they were honoured to accept the invitation from Rossendale Borough Council on behalf of the people of Rossendale and, in particular, Remembrance Parades in Rossendale.

The evening marked the finale of the nationwide VE Day 80th celebrations and brought together music, storytelling, and tributes in a moving salute to those who served and sacrificed during the Second World War.
