Officer recognised at palace for youth engagement work

A POLICE officer has been recognised for her community work as she joined King Charles for a garden party at Buckingham Palace.

Nottinghamshire Police's School and Early Intervention Officer (SEIO) PC Charlotte Doherty was invited to the afternoon celebration in recognition of the work she does with young people across the county.
Hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla, the event on May 14 acknowledged contributions by those from communities across the country who are involved in education and skills.
"I was so surprised," PC Doherty said. "I genuinely rang the person back who sent the invite thinking there had been a mistake."
The afternoon featured musical entertainment and refreshments, before the King and Queen greeted guests in the garden.
