A FORMER Nottinghamshire Police officer repeatedly made discriminatory comments about a group of young males during a call to the force's control room.

Joseph Stacey, a police constable with the force at the time of the incident, made the phone call “as an abundance of caution" for a concern for safety of a young woman.

An accelerated gross misconduct hearing at the force's headquarters at Sherwood Lodge last week was told that the officer believed the woman was being stared at by a group of men.

During the call, which took place at about 3.29am on October 31 this year, Stacey used repeated “clearly discriminatory and offensive” language in regards to the group in question based on their ethnicity.

The comments were not revealed during Monday's hearing.
