A Story Etched in Our Hearts

- Lavneet Vashisth

As Mother's Day approaches, we often find ourselves searching for the right words to express what our mother truly means to us.

“When love reaches its purest form, it forgets itself... and lives only for someone else.”

We write messages, choose gifts, and share posts, hoping they will somehow capture the depth of our feelings. Yet, no matter how much we try, words often fall short. Sometimes, it takes a single moment, a single image to say what language never fully can. This image is one such moment.

It is not just a photograph; it is a feeling that stays with you long after you have looked away. It reflects love in its purest, most selfless form, a mother choosing her child over herself. “Uss Maa ko maut ka darr nahi tha, usey apni aakhri saans ka darr nahi tha... darr tha toh bas is baat ka ki, mera bachcha mujhse door na ho.”

In simple words, it means that the mother was not afraid of death, nor of her last breath. Her only fear was that her child should not be separated from her. And in that one thought lies the entire meaning of motherhood.

In today's fast-moving world, where we scroll endlessly and forget quickly, very few images have the power to stop us in our tracks. This is one of them. It is believed to be from the tragic Jabalpur cruise (boat) incident, where what began as a normal outing turned into a devastating accident within moments. A boat carrying passengers reportedly capsized, throwing people into panic as they struggled in the water, calling out for help, trying to survive.
