Proteas set for T20 World Cup blockbuster rematch

February 18, 2026

THE Proteas will face a blockbuster rematch with defending champions India in their first ICC T20 World Cup Super Eights clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, 22 February.

- ZAAHIER ADAMS

The two super giants faced off in the last T20 World Cup final in Barbados two years ago when Aiden Markram's team required 30 runs off 30 balls to clinch their first-ever T20 World Cup trophy.

History tells us, the Proteas faltered, falling agonisingly short by seven runs for India to clinch their second T20 World Cup championship title.
