Lessons from a funeral

I RECENTLY attended the funeral of my wife's beautiful niece, Lenushka, who succumbed to that dreaded illness, cancer, in the prime of her life.

It was a traumatic experience for the family as three years earlier they had lost their mother, also to cancer.

I was also very affected as the last time I saw her alive was on her death bed, gasping for dear life. I could not say hello to her, and it left me distraught.

It is at a funeral that we are often pricked by our conscience - that is if we have one.
