Five pupils stabbed in racially-motivated school fight at Chatsworth school

A MINOR altercation at Glenover Secondary in Chatsworth escalated into a violent incident, resulting in five pupils being stabbed.
The KZN Department of Education (DoE) has condemned the incident which was allegedly “racially motivated and aggravated by adults”.
The fight, which stemmed from a grudge from an earlier altercation at the soccer field at Glenover Secondary School on Friday, escalated after school.
A source told the POST that a woman and former pupils who are known to loiter around a tuck shop outside the school had verbally and physically attacked the pupils who were involved in the scuffle earlier in the day.
“They brought weapons and stabbed the pupils. The altercation moved from outside the school to a nearby shopping centre, where a security guard who tried to intervene was also stabbed,” said the source.
The KZN DoE has condemned the racial violence and appealed for parental responsibility at the school.
“We are concerned about the serious incident that occurred at Glenover Secondary School.
“What began as a minor altercation on the soccer field between two pupils regrettably escalated into a broader conflict with racial undertones. The school acted swiftly, suspending the four pupils directly involved.
