Race for Life: Countdown is on and here's all you need to know
Portsmouth News
|June 27, 2025
A sea of pink will fill Southsea Common this weekend as thousands of charity fundraisers will gather for Race for Life events.

Tomorrow almost 2,500 people are expected to take part in Pretty Muddy, with around 2,000 taking part in three different distance events on Sunday, to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Whether you are taking part or spectating, here’s all you need to know about the events:
What is happening on Saturday and at what time?
This day is devoted to the Pretty Muddy events, when people will tackle a mud-splattered obstacle course!
Pretty Muddy Kids will set off at 10am - this is the first wave of children aged 6-12 (over 1.2m tall) with other groups following behind.
The 5k Pretty Muddy adult events begin at 11am and groups follow every 15 minutes. People will be given a specific time to start their race - so that organisers can keep people safe and ensure areas do not become too congested, especially around obstacles.
What is happening on Sunday and at what time?
Almost 2,000 people will take part in 3k, 5k or 10k running events. The 10k starts at 10am and the 3k and 5k events at 11am.
How much does it cost to take part?
Pretty Muddy costs £22.49 for adults and £12 for children (supervising adults are free for the children’s event for 6 to 12 year olds). The 10k event costs £17.49 for adults and £11 for children; the 5k event costs £15.99 for adults and £11 for children; the 3K event costs £14.99 for adults and £10 for children.
