Tick Bakone Malapa museum off your bucket list this holiday
Polokwane Observer
|December 17, 2025
The school holiday is here and many parents are already faced with their young ones who have exhausted all the available options to spend their free time and should consider a cultural experience at one of the facilities operated by Polokwane Municipality.
The Bakone Malapa Open-Air Museum offers a secret journey back into the past. Guided tours are offered around the traditional cultural villagea reconstructed archaeological site, where visitors are introduced to cultural arts and crafts and see how fire is made using sticks. The tour is suitable for all ages as guides will adapt tours to age and interests with a hands-on experience, according to curator Liesl Stegmann.
