Office of the Premier: COGHSTA handles protest demands first

The Office of the Premier, Dr Phophi Ramathuba has defended its decision to forward a memorandum of demands (MoD) by the recently formed Concerned Citizens of Polokwane (CCP) to the Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (Coghsta), instead of responding directly.
The premier's spokesperson, Thilivhali Muavha said it would have been inappropriate for Ramathuba to preside over municipal issues when there is a provincial department responsible. "Won't Polokwane's council laugh at the Premier's Office like it does not understand our mandate if it presides on their matters when there is a department of municipalities in Limpopo?" Muavha asked.
