Mamabolo suspension lifted; disciplinary proceedings loom

The temporary suspension of ANC senior member Boy Mamabolo has been lifted due to a procedural lapse by the party.

- Koketšo Sekhwela

A letter from the ANC's Limpopo disciplinary committee, dated May, confirms that the suspension was rendered invalid after Mamabolo was not issued a formal notice of charges within the 30-day timeframe outlined in Rule 25.65 of the ANC constitution.

In layman's terms, the rule

stipulates that if the ANC suspends a member and fails to provide written charges within a month, the suspension lapses automatically.
