'Years of disruption' to build windfarm
Perthshire Advertiser
|July 15, 2025
A controversial wind farm planned for scenic Glen Lednock near Comrie - described as a destructive industrial project - will involve two years of disruption say campaigners.
Village opponents this week pointed to 400 lorry loads a day during construction and road restrictions for tourists and visitors.
Developers Low Carbon are proposing to build 19 turbines with blade tips reaching as high as 200m on land within Invergeldie Estate have said they are “committed to taking every step to make sure that the potential negative impacts... are avoided or minimised where possible.”
Save Glen Lednock campaigners however said this week those living near the development - as well as businesses and residents in Comrie and Crieff, and rare wildlife - will all suffer as a result of the scheme.
Martin Downing of Save Glen Lednock said: “Although the developer has proposed an ‘indicative’ construction programme of 24 months, this seems optimistic to us.
“The existing road up the glen is narrow and twisting, so they are having to build a new eight-mile access road from the A85 east of Comrie.
