The black-and-white army were out in force as St Mirren’s players and coaching staff enjoyed an open-top bus parade with the silverware.

Memories of the richly deserved 3-1 win over Celtic at Hampden came flooding back as flags and scarves were waved and cheering filled the air.

For Keith Lasley, who stood as a seven-year-old to see Saints lift the Scottish Cup 38-and-a-half years ago, it was all just magical.

A playing career that spanned two decades, and over 500 professional appearances for Motherwell and Plymouth Argyle, was followed by along a four-year assistant manager stint with Robbo at ‘Well.

But the 46-year-old, who is chief operating officer at Saints, admits nothing will beat the feeling of winning silverware.
