SNP continues to balance books

This week will see the first stage of the Scottish Budget going through parliament.

Parliament Finance secretary Shona Robison will deliver the Scottish Budget this week

This can be quite a dry process when viewed from the outside, but we should remember that without the budget every year, we would be unable to finance new projects and initiatives, including our NHS.

And unlike the UK, the Scottish Parliament has to balance its budget.

That means we cannot go over our finances that we have available, unlike the UK Government, currently in debt by over £2.8 trillion. Yes, trillion not billion.

The Scottish Parliament has no debt because it has to balance its budget. Quite a difference.

The UK has the powers to borrow; the Scottish Parliament does not.
