Pupils can turn ideas into reality

Renfrewshire secondary school pupils are being invited to take part in a nationwide competition and design life-changing products for the visually impaired.

Scottish charity TechFest has launched its Innovation in Action challenge for S4 to S6 students across the local authority to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The project is open for school registration now and invites students to design a practical and sustainable product or app that improves life for visually-impaired people.

Teams of two to six students will plan every detail, conduct market research, investigate materials and the costs of various production methods before documenting their journey in a 10-page report and three-minute video.

Pupils will be supported with both a guidebook and expert-led prerecorded masterclasses on entrepreneurship, sustainable manufacturing, finance, visual impairment and market research.
