Plans to transform land in the spotlight

A major transformation of derelict land in Paisley’s Ferguslie Park into a multi-functional greenspace is set to be discussed by elected members today.
Councillors will be asked to authorise awarding a works contract for the Belltrees project - worth a total value of £743,999.11 - to Mackenzie Construction.
A start date of early January 2026 has been targeted, providing the agreement is approved at a meeting of Renfrewshire Council's finance, resources and customer services policy board.
Councillor Kenny MacLaren, an SNP representative for Paisley Northwest, said: "I welcome this contract starting as soon as early January.
"This is a great use of Scottish Government funding to bring derelict, abandoned land back into community use.
