Number of people vaping highly concerning

The number of people vaping who have never smoked before is “of most concern” to NHS bosses as they release new guidance on how to quit the electronic cigarette.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) has released a series of guides and resources to highlight the risks of vaping and how to quit once and for all. The campaign comes as the number of people vaping across Renfrewshire increases.

Once seen as a means to help people give up cigarettes, vapes are now being used by huge swathes of people who have never smoked before.

Between 2022 and 2023, the most up to date information available, 12 per cent of the adult population in Scotland was using vapes.
