Leisure team make a splash with award nod

An East Renfrewshire swimming programme has been recognised for delivering lifesaving skills in a supportive environment.

East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure (ERCL) has been shortlisted in the Scottish Water Learn to Swim provider of the year category at this month's Scottish Swimming Annual Awards.

The award celebrates organisations that deliver high-quality swimming lessons under the Learn to Swim national framework - a partnership between Scottish Water and Scottish Swimming.

Karen Baxter, swimming development manager at ERCL, said: "We're incredibly proud to be recognised on a national stage for the work we do in East Renfrewshire.

"The Learn to Swim programme is all about creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where every child has the chance to gain vital life skills and enjoy the benefits of swimming.
