Health chiefs allay fears of disabled users over plans
Health chiefs have moved to reassure disabled people and their families that they will still receive the same level of support when the Disability Resource Centre moves location.
Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) revealed proposals earlier this year to move the services delivered by the centre to the three new hubs as part of a series of measures designed to plug a funding gap of £19 million.
The move, which forms a larger merger of physical and learning disability services, will see support for all service users relocated to three central hubs; Milldale in Linwood and the Anchor Centre and Spinners Gate in Paisley.
It means the day centre provision at Paton’s Resource Centre, the Lagoon Leisure Centre and the Disability Resource Centre will cease.
And while people will be moved to central hubs, the HSCP has confirmed those with physical and learning disabilities will have their own dedicated space within those buildings and friendships will be kept together.
