Club withdraws bid for ground ownership

A football club has withdrawn its bid to take on the ownership of its home ground and another section of a public park in Lochwinnoch after an influx of objections from the community.

Calderglen Community SCIO, formed from Calderglen AFC, submitted a request for a community asset transfer (CAT) of the playing fields in Lochlip Road more than a year ago.

It was even approved by elected members on the CAT subcommittee in August 2024 before Renfrewshire Council later realised an “administrative error” was made during the consultation.

This meant the local authority decided to put the brakes on the formalisation of the process in May so it could recommence that particular stage.

However, the club has since pulled its application after hundreds of representations poured in, with many raising concerns about the proposal.
