Birkmire suffer first home defeat

Birkmyre suffered their first home defeat of the season at the hands of Lochaber in West League Two.

The visitors arrived with a plan on Saturday and executed it well to clinch a 20-point victory margin.

The overall scoreline did not reflect how close the match was with Birkmyre only trailing by five points with 10 minutes remaining.

However, a late flurry of points by the Fort William side sealed success.

Lochaber opened the scoring in the fourth minute after Birkmyre had been attacking on the edge of the opposition's 22-metre line.

But they lost their own lineout and, having stolen the ball, Lochaber charged across the halfway line.

From the next phase, one of their big forwards broke what should have been a regulation tackle to charge 50m for the score, sidestepping Birkmyre's fullback along the way.

Surprisingly, the conversion in front of the posts was missed.
