Pontins not housing any asylum seekers

Claims made on social media not true as site remains vacant

PONTINS remains vacant despite recent rumours swirling on social media.

Recent weeks have seen X, formerly Twitter, posts stating the derelict holiday park has been used to house asylum seekers with videos of groups of people gathered on Ainsdale beach.

Despite the claims, the Visiter can confirm this is not the case.

As it stands, there is no one staying in the empty holiday park, with a covenant currently on the site meaning it can only be used as a holiday resort. This has not changed.

Recent speculation that the abandoned Pontins holiday park in Southport has been repurposed to accommodate asylum seekers are unfounded.

Sefton Council has opted not to comment further on the matter, although similar stories have surfaced regarding various Pontins locations nationwide.
