Package for violence-hit Malkangiri

The Odisha government Thursday announced a comprehensive package of administrative, rehabilitative and welfare measures for Malkangiri district following the incidents of violence reported December 7 and 8 in Rakhelguda and M.V-26 villages.

The announcements were made at a press briefing by Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo along with Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik at Lok Seva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.

The decisions stem from a high-level review meeting held December 29, 2025, chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, which focused on long-pending tribal, land and development issues in the district.

Minister said “Addressing longstanding grievances of tribal communities, the government decided that all pending cases under Regulation 2/56 (as amended in 2002) will be reviewed fortnightly by the district Collector, with progress reports submitted to the Southern Revenue Commissioner and the state government.”
